How to Remove the PCM Module

  1. To remove the PCM Module (Powertrain Control Module) on Ford E350 Van, you first need to disconnect the negative battery wire
  2. Make the sensor wiring that connects to the PCM Module loosen (12A581), and also loosen the PCM connector retainer bolt
  3. Separate Engine Control sensor wiring connector from PCM Module and loosen PCM bracket support screw
  4. Remove PCM bracket support and PCM Module.

How to Install the PCM Module

To install, reverse the removal procedure: tighten PCM Module retainer screw to 3-4 Nm (24-32 in-lb). Then tighten the connector retainer bolt to 4 Nm (32 in-lb). Please note that after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, some unusual drive symptoms may happen while the PCM Module goes through relearning. The car may need to be driven 10+ miles to completely relearn itself.
