Air cars…no, not those (though you’ll be sure to hear from us when that happens!) — we’re talking vehicles powered by the very air! Specifically, grabbing hydrogen right from the air itself to power the engine…unbelievable? Well, it works in the lab!
In German culture (or is it “just” Yiddish?), there is the concept of the Luftmensch, someone who lives only on air — that is, needing nothing but air, only needing to breathe…someone impractical, in other words; a dreamer, even a n’eer-do-well (to the bourgeois, anyway)…so why not import the concept (ahem, vague pun clearly intended) and call these cars of the future air-cars, since they would similarly be fueled by the air!

The air-car would work (“would” because scaling things from a proof-of-concept in the lab to something practical and economical to manufacture and sell are two different realities) by drawing hydrogen from the air in order to power itself. It can only do this with a graphene-based mechanism, however, which was proven to work but now needs to be made much more practical, more efficient.
This is even better than a flying car, if you really think about it! Especially in humid climes — and with global warming and ice sheets melting, that would seem to be quite the inevitable trend — where there is so much water in the very air, meaning there is so much hydrogen locked into the oxygen molecules…such air-cars would basically never run out of fuel!
